At Discovery Himalayas, our creative approach is simple: content driven design. It means that we start our creative process by working with our clients and multidisciplinary design teams to first define the themes, main story lines and walk-away messages that are to be conveyed through the audio-visual exhibits.

Management and Capability
Discovery Himalayas is a hands-on organization where the professionals lead the company, Sonam Yangzom one among the few female directors of Bhutan, is the head of the company managing most of the projects with a creative advise from Pelden Dorji, a pioneer in filmmaking of Bhutan.
The duo hires capable creative freelancer for each project. By working with creative and talented team we provide the most effective video the client require.
Sonam Yangzom
Project Director
Sonam Yangzom is one of the few women filmmakers in Bhutan. She is a videographer, video editor, director and documentary filmmaker. She has devoted most of her career in filmmaking. Her documentary, The Curse has won the Best Documentary in American Academy of Neurology 2016 and best documentary in Beskop Tshechu. Her documentary Lyonpo Ugyen Tshering’s milestones and Parkinson won the best documentary award in Bhutan Film Festival, 2017.
Pelden Dorji
Creative Director
Pelden Dorji, popularly known as Ata Pelden, is a recipient of an award from the fourth Druk Gyalpo, the King, in 1993 as an appreciation for his hard work and excellence in filmmaking. He is the founder of the Film Association of Bhutan. He was also a consultant during the establishment of the first Bhutanese Television Services, BBS. He joined the Government service in 1978 as an assistant cameraman in the Department of Information, the present-day Kuensel, the National News Paper. He studied filmmaking in Japan, India, and Thailand. Ata Pelden is the first animation student. He studied Cell Animation at the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in India in 1980. He also studied Communication Skills Development Programme in Thailand. He had won international awards from Sony International Co-operation Division, Japan, for Documentary films besides winning several National awards. More than 60 percent of Bhutanese filmmakers have worked with him or under his supervision. Ata Pelden also worked as a part-time instructor in the Institute for Professional Studies (IPS) for the Cinematographers. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2017.
